Redwood Center of Excellence achieves IB PYP Accreditation: UAE

  • The Redwood Center of Excellence, an independent preschool in the U.A.E., has become the first to provide the globally acclaimed International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP). Owned and operated by Kids First Group in Dubai, the Redwood CoE obtained authorization from IB less than two years after opening in April 2022. The primary goal of all IB programs is to foster globally-minded individuals contributing to a better and more peaceful world.

Kamil Najjar, CEO of Kids First Group, expresses pride in Redwood CoE offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) PYP in a unique blended curriculum that integrates Montessori, Reggio, EYFS, and STEM. He considers it an honor to receive this prestigious authorization, having undergone a rigorous process monitored by IB. Najjar is proud to set a new standard for early childhood learning in the U.A.E. The PYP curriculum acknowledges the inherent capacity of learners to inquire, question, wonder, and theorize about themselves, others, and their surroundings. Students exhibit self-directed learning, adept at identifying and solving problems using their skills. The learning environment is considered a teacher, with students actively participating as partners in the educational process.

Established in 1968, the IB is a global organization comprising four programs, including the Primary Years Programme (PYP), now accessible at Redwood CoE up to age 6. The initial six years profoundly impact a child's future well-being, happiness, and choices. Opting for an interactive learning environment enhances personalized learning, making children more "school ready" and likely to thrive in the education system. While many schools offer the PYP, staying in a pre-school setting provides extra care, allowing young children to explore without pressure, positively contributing to their adaptability and confidence, as explained by IB PYP Coordinator Sima Abou Chacra.
