Qatar, UNICEF in Talks for Out-of-School Children's Education

  • Qatari entities and UNICEF convened in New York to discuss ensuring equal learning opportunities for numerous out-of-school children, as stated by Education Above All (EAA). The meeting included EAA, the Qatari Mission to the United Nations, the Qatar Fund for Development, and more. EAA emphasized that the key aim of this significant dialogue was to strengthen the robust collaboration between Qatar and UNICEF, outlining a roadmap for their partnership's next phase.

EAA and UNICEF entered into an agreement with the goal of driving substantial advancements in education. Highlighting their decade-long collaboration, EAA and UNICEF have furnished over five million out-of-school children worldwide with education. In the dialogue, both organizations outlined their intentions to broaden their partnership to meet the educational requirements of 244 million children and youth. The entities involved also deliberated on strategies to formulate an action plan aimed at advancing quality education.

"The overarching objective is to create a more promising future for every child worldwide, ensuring that no one is denied opportunities for learning," stated EAA. Formed in 2012, EAA, in collaboration with various Qatari entities, has been a crucial support system for students displaced globally due to crises and conflict. In the previous year, EAA committed $20 million to endorse the UN's Education Cannot Wait (ECW) initiative, aiming to assist children globally who have been deprived of their right to education.
