Pranav Nair, an IIT-Guwahati Student Set to Join Google

  • Pranav Nair, a student from IIT Guwahati, overcame cerebral palsy to achieve his dream of working at Google. Despite facing challenges in education due to his condition, Pranav received unwavering support from his family and faculty. Overcoming obstacles, he pursued mainstream schooling and eventually enrolled in computer engineering at IIT Guwahati, leading to a successful placement at Google

Pranav faced academic challenges during his childhood due to cerebral palsy. Despite the reluctance of schools to admit a student with special needs, his parents firmly believed in mainstream education. Pranav highlighted the logistical hassles he encountered, including the need for adjustments like shifting classrooms to the ground floor or installing elevators. Additionally, being in a wheelchair made transportation difficult, adding to the burden of his studies.

After completing his schooling in Muscat, Oman, Pranav initially aimed for a medical career. However, his parents encouraged him to explore alternative paths that would allow his potential to flourish despite physical limitations. Pranav's journey took a significant turn when his passion for computers sparked a new career aspiration. Opting for software engineering, he secured admission to an IIT in Computer Science and Engineering, ranking 27th in the Person with Disability (PWD) category.

Reflecting on his transformation, Pranav acknowledges the transformative power of technology in enhancing the quality and fulfillment of his life. With a vision to use technology for societal inclusivity, he aspires to contribute to creating a more accessible and welcoming world for all individuals.
