PNU welcomes Japanese Scholar in Foreign Language Education

  • The Philippine Normal University (PNU) has welcomed Dr. Shigeru Ozaki, a visiting scholar from Doshisha University's Faculty of Global and Regional Studies in Kyoto, Japan. PNU's Vice President for Research, Extension, and Quality Assurance (VPREQA), Teresita Rungduin, along with Educational Policy Research and Development Office (EPRDO) Director Heidi Macahilig, and Research Management Office (RMO) Director Ma. Arsenia Gomez extended a formal welcome to Dr. Ozaki.

Dr. Ozaki's research focus during his tenure at PNU will primarily be on Foreign Language Education studies, with the aim of contributing insights to language policy development within the regional context. In a separate engagement, three faculty members from PNU recently participated in the meeting of partners for the Strengthening University-Enterprise Collaboration for Resilient Communities in Asia (SECRA) Project, hosted at the University Peradeniya in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The gathering's objective was to reinforce partnerships between academic institutions and businesses to enhance community resilience in the face of natural disasters.

Representing PNU at this event was team leader Darryl Roy Montebon, alongside team researchers Arlyn Marasigan and Leah Amor Cortez. Furthermore, the team also took part in the 1st International Conference on University-Industry Collaborators for Sustainable Development (ICSD-2024). During this conference, they presented their paper titled "Voices from the Communities: Stakeholders' Perceptions on University-Enterprise Collaboration Programs for Resilience."

These initiatives underscore PNU's commitment to fostering academic collaborations and advancing research efforts that contribute to both regional language policy-making and community resilience building, reflecting the university's dedication to academic excellence and societal impact.
