Prime Minister Dr. Hun Manet of Cambodia outlined five perspectives to contribute to enhancing the quality of education in the country, particularly in developing digital skills among the workforce for the present and future. He expressed these views while presiding over the inauguration of the new campus of the National University of Management (NUM) in Sangkat Veal Sbov, Phnom Penh's Khan Chbar Ampov.
Dr. Hun Manet underscored the Royal Government's commitment to strengthening digital skills, building human capital, promoting digital literacy, and organizing training programs to cultivate qualified human resources, emphasizing the significance of ongoing and future training.
The Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports should concentrate on human resource development aligned with labor market demands, fostering competition, and driving socio-economic progress. Emphasizing the importance of digital education, the Ministry must contribute to building digital citizenship, enhance students' digital capabilities, and improve the efficacy of digital teaching and learning, along with encouraging self-study.
Higher education institutions need to reform their education systems, create new curricula, and focus on education, technology, and digital skills in line with economic trends, labor market requirements, and the fourth industrial revolution. Collaboration between the National University of Management and other institutions with national and international research organizations is crucial for joint research, experience-sharing, and mutual study visits to enhance education, training, and research quality, and facilitate student exchanges through scholarships.
The university should augment its capacity and scientific research in relevant fields to elevate teaching quality and effectiveness, facilitating the transfer of practical knowledge to students.
