Philippine Normal University excels in Teachers' Licensure Exam

  • The Philippine Normal University (PNU) in Manila has been recognized for its excellent teacher education. It was acknowledged as one of the Top Performing Schools in the recent Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board for Professional Teachers. This recognition was given during the Oath Taking Ceremony for the newly licensed professional teachers at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC). The event celebrated not only the success of individual test-takers but also emphasized the crucial role of institutions like PNU in improving education standards in the country.

PNU has a strong history of commitment to teacher education, and this recent achievement in the LEPT is inspiring for other educational institutions in the Philippines. Key figures from PNU, including President Bert Tuga, Vice President for Academics Marilyn Balagtas, and College of Teacher Development Dean Gladys Nivera, took pride in receiving the award. Their presence at the ceremony highlighted the collaborative effort and shared vision that positions PNU as a leading institution in teacher education.

In addition to PNU's success, congratulations were extended to J. Prospero DeVera 3rd, Chairman of the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) and PNU Board of Regents, for receiving the University of the Philippines (UP) Gawad Oblation. This prestigious award recognized DeVera's contributions to enhancing UP's visibility, international prestige, and recognition as a National University. DeVera's achievement showcases how individual efforts can significantly contribute to the overall prestige and progress of the education sector.

PNU being recognized as one of the Top Performing Schools in the LEPT is not just a commendation for the university but also a call for other institutions to strive for excellence in education. It emphasizes the crucial role of teacher education in shaping the minds and futures of the next generation. As the newly licensed teachers start their journeys to educate and inspire, they carry the legacy and high standards instilled by their alma maters, like PNU. This commitment to excellence by institutions is vital for the ongoing improvement of the education sector in the Philippines and beyond.
