A cohort of 120 Pakistani students and scholars has been awarded Fulbright scholarships to undertake Master’s and PhD programs in the United States. This diverse group also encompasses participants in the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program.
The Fulbright Program, a prominent academic exchange initiative of the US government, stands as one of the largest in Pakistan. These exchanges, backed by US government support, offer Pakistani students opportunities to pursue studies at prestigious universities, engage in pioneering research, foster international collaboration, and build global networks. To equip students for their academic pursuits and cultural immersion in the United States, the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) recently conducted a comprehensive two-day pre-departure orientation.
“You have made it through an incredibly competitive application process, and you should be proud of your achievement,” said Ambassador Blome. “I’m especially pleased to see such a diverse group of Fulbright participants here, representing the many geographical regions of Pakistan and different walks of life”.
This year’s cohort of Fulbright scholars from Pakistan will be enrolled at 66 universities across the United States, focusing on fields such as health, education, computer sciences, environmental studies, and social sciences. The group comprises 102 Master’s students, 13 PhD candidates, and five Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant fellows. Women make up 55 percent of the cohort, underscoring the program’s dedication to gender parity. Fulbright scholarships provide comprehensive support, including coverage for travel, living expenses, health insurance, and tuition throughout the duration of their studies.
