NUS High School of Math and Science students will receive additional assistance to carry out research and embark on foreign school trips, as the school aims to raise funds to provide students with more opportunities. By launching a new scheme known as NUSHigh Giving on April 17, the school stated that it will engage partners so that its students will be able to participate in multi-year programmes in advanced science and technology. These may be in fields such as space engineering, artificial intelligence robots and nuclear science.
This also comprises extra support for research and innovation projects that all students have to do to graduate, or overseas visits to research institutions.
NUS High, celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025, added that it is also hoping to utilize its fund-raising effort to enable lower-income students to join overseas learning programmes through the provision of subsidies.
Money will also be directed to outreach programmes for primary school students with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (Stem) abilities, especially those who come from poorer backgrounds and young girls. NUSHigh Giving was one of two initiatives announced on April 17 during the school's 20th anniversary celebrations at its compound in Clementi.
The second was the official launching of NUSHSat1, a nanosatellite built by the students in the school. It is the first one done by a school in Singapore.
