NTU Singapore Launches College of Computing and Data Science

  • Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore has taken a substantial step in shaping the future of technology education with the introduction of its College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS). This innovative initiative, scheduled to commence in August, addresses the increasing demand for expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and data science. Led by Professor Luke Ong, the CCDS aims to provide a comprehensive educational framework, welcoming an inaugural cohort of more than 4,800 students.

As industries globally undergo digital transformation, the need for professionals skilled in AI and data science has surged. NTU's CCDS aims to bridge this gap by offering industry-relevant degree programs, including a state-of-the-art Bachelor of Science in AI and Society. This program, among others, is strategically designed to equip students with the essential skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. With a focus on cultivating the next generation of leaders in AI and data science, the college is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of these crucial fields.

The College of Computing and Data Science is not solely about academic degrees; it is about creating a holistic educational experience that encourages innovation and collaboration. The college will integrate existing undergraduate and graduate programs from NTU's former School of Computer Science and Engineering, while also introducing new and exciting courses. These include the Master of Science in AI with a specialization in generative AI, an emerging area of interest in the tech community. Additionally, the college is committed to offering exclusive masterclasses, mentorship opportunities, and exchange programs to encourage students to engage in interdisciplinary studies and research.

The launch of NTU's College of Computing and Data Science represents a significant achievement in the university's endeavors to meet the growing demand for AI and data science skills. Through a blend of technical knowledge and interdisciplinary learning opportunities, the CCDS is positioned to empower students and professionals to navigate and contribute to the future of technology. Guided by Professor Luke Ong, the college is set to become a beacon of innovation and excellence in AI and data science education, both in Singapore and globally.
