North South University signs MoU with 12 Universities

  • North South University (NSU) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 12 top-ranked universities in the 2024 Forum of University Presidents from Hubei (China) and South Asia. The initiative has been named Yichang Initiative, a great leap towards the scaling of further academic and research cooperation between institutions in Hubei and South Asia.

Among the institutions established through MoU include Mid-West University, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences, China Three Gorges University, Hebei University, Yangtze University, State Conservatory of Uzbekistan, Hebei Normal University, Wuhan Conservatory of Music, Huanggang Normal University, Wuhan University of Science and Technology and Hubei University of Education. This agreement will facilitate mutual growth in education, scientific research, and talent development.

University Vice Chancellor Prof Abdul Hannan Chowdhury led the signing ceremony on behalf of the university. "MoU marked a new era for North South University in international ties. Through the Yichang Initiative, we can share resources, spur innovation and offer our students and faculty members global opportunities. This would help facilitate our ability to cultivate high-level talent and promote scientific research", he added.

The Yichang Initiative: this initiative expands further institutional networks and promotes fuller integration of digital technology with education, fosters greater collaboration between universities and enterprises, proposes new exchanges-this fits into the framework of China's Belt and Road initiative by creating strategic partnerships between the universities of Hubei and South Asia for mutual benefit through shared resources, talent development, and scientific innovation.

Among the summer programs offered by the NSU, the Alliance of Universities of Hubei (China) and South Asia will soon introduce a 'Summer Camp' for students and faculty that will be exposed to academic as well as cultural life here in Hubei. This is cooperation that reaffirms NSU's continued commitment to developing international academic cooperation and expanding the horizons of learning by its community.

The side memorandum of understanding was signed by NSU to seal its pact with China Three Gorges University with regard to promoting exchange of students, faculty, research, and academic knowledge both by these institutions.

These agreements expose the integral role that NSU plays in the development of higher academic and research collaboration across borders, providing faculty and students with chances for globalization and innovative ideas.
