Nord Anglia and IMG Academy Launch Basketball and Football Camp in Dubai

  • IMG Academy, renowned worldwide for its sports education, and Nord Anglia Education, a prominent international school organization, have unveiled plans for a new sports camp in Dubai this winter. Scheduled for December 15-20, 2024, the week-long camp will offer both day and residential options. It will focus on basketball and football for participants aged 12-18 and will be held at the Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai. The camp will feature IMG Academy's renowned sports and mental performance curriculum.

    The camp will feature basketball and football sessions with technical training conducted by IMG Academy's expert coaches. These sessions will cover advanced techniques, game scenarios, and competitions. Additionally, the well-being component of the camp will address areas such as confidence, resilience, commitment, pressure management, and focus. Students will have the option to stay on campus in the purpose-built boarding houses, allowing participants from across the Middle East and internationally to take part in the program.

    Becoming a successful student-athlete involves far more than just talent and physical abilities. That's why IMG Academy sports camps equip students with the right mindset to excel. Developed by expert educators over the course of 40 years, they include mental performance training to equip athletes with the mindset they need to boost their confidence, sharpen their focus, and cultivate the determination to excel in their training, competitions, and in the game of life.

    The camp marks the first time that student-athletes in Dubai, UAE will have the opportunity to participate in an IMG Academy sports camp, previously only held on IMG Academy's campus in Bradenton, Florida. The sports camp is also open to non-Nord Anglia student-athletes throughout the region.

    IMG Academy has established a global reputation for nurturing aspiring basketball and football players, delivering unmatched expertise and a history of success. Since 2005, the academy has produced 21 NBA Draft selections, including 13 first-round picks. Moreover, in the past two years, over two dozen IMG Academy alumni have competed in the NCAA Men's and Women's Collegiate Basketball Tournaments, highlighting the program's exceptional talent development.

    In 2023, IMG Academy's football program achieved a milestone when alumna Michelle Cooper was selected as the second overall pick in the National Women's Soccer League Draft, marking the school's top professional sports draft pick. Additionally, the academy set a record with three boys football alumni being chosen in the Major League Soccer Super Draft. During the 2023-24 season, fifteen current IMG Academy boys football players represented national teams from 13 countries, while seventeen girls football players represented national teams from 11 countries.
