Newbase Unveils AI-Based VR Medical Education Platform 'Medicrew'

  • Newbase Inc., the pioneering medical edtech company, is all set to unveil its trailblazing AI-powered virtual reality (VR) medical education platform, 'Medicrew', at the Hong Kong Autumn Electronics Fair from October 13 to 16. Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, it is a very effective tool for Newbase to present the innovative platform and further strengthen its global presence in the market of medical education.

This highly advanced AI-based meta-hospital environment is a next-generation medical simulation training solution - Medicrew. Its three-tiered module of learning will allow for tailor-made education to the proficiency of each learner: Learn skills, Act orders and Make decisions. This will allow the user to be trained at any moment, at any time, across the globe, in sync with AI-based virtual patients to diagnose, treat, and observe real-time patient response.

Newbase believes that medical training should be accessible and of high quality for all, said its CEO, Park Sun-Young. "Medicrew addresses some of the key shortcomings of traditional hospital-based medical training, including confined access to such a setting, infection risks, and the inability to practice repeatedly without causing physical harm. We will continue to advance the platform through innovations like AI-interactive virtual patients and customizable VR scenarios".

Pilot studies are carried out at the hospital level, including South Korean hospitals and nursing colleges, and have been implemented at School of Nursing, National University of Medical Science, Mongolia as part of KOICA project in 2023. Hospitals that underwent VR training stated low turnover rates of newly hired nurses and satisfaction with their training.

Moving forward, as Newbase expands its footprint, the authenticity and practicability of the training process for healthcare professionals will increase with Medicrew, bringing the edtech giant even closer to the forefront of the global edtech horizon.
