Netflix officially orders new series True Lessons (WT). Headed by Kim Moo-yul, Lee Sung-min, Jin Ki-joo, and Pyo Ji-hoon, this series features a cathartic storyline revolving around the Educational Rights Protection Bureau an institution founded with the daring goal of imparting 'true lessons' to students, teachers, and parents who are willing to defy the line. Working even beyond the boundaries of law, this team doesn't hold back anything in order to bring back order within the school.
True Lessons (WT) gives a new spin on real-world learning issues with a strong and new approach. Director Hong Jong-chan (Juvenile Justice) teams up with writer Lee Nam-kyu (Daily Dose of Sunshine, The Light in Your Eyes) to create a narrative that appeals to current society and gives a strong message. The high expectation is on how they will be portraying the complicated relationship between students, teachers, and parents in the series.
Kim Moo-yul and Lee Sung-min lend their gravitas to True Lessons (WT), returning with Director Hong following their collaboration on Juvenile Justice. Kim Moo-yul (Sweet Home) stars as Na Hwa-jin, a special agent of the Educational Rights Protection Bureau who deals with school problems in his own way. After the table read, Kim Moo-yeol said, "Everyone's passion was incredible.". Reading the script together prior to addressing the complicated issue of education, I felt that we could trust one another and felt a lot of support.
Lee Sung-min (Reborn Rich) plays Choi Gang-seok, the Education Minister and founder of the Educational Rights Protection Bureau, spoke about his own excitement for the series. "I was greatly impressed by writer Lee Nam-kyu's past works", he explained. "Because I'm working with director Hong Jong-chan for the second time since Juvenile Justice, I have strong confidence and am happiest to work with great actors. We will do our best to deliver a great series".
Jin Ki-joo (Little Forest, My Perfect Stranger) reveals a different side playing Im Han-rim, an ex-special forces soldier who became a special agent at the Educational Rights Protection Bureau. "Solidly rooted in contemporary reality, the script is so engrossing", she explained. "The added fantasy of the Educational Rights Protection Bureau has me thinking about the issues that we need to consider as a society together".
Pyo Ji-hoon (Good Partner, Hotel Del Luna) is Bong Geun-dae, a genius assistant director of the Educational Rights Protection Bureau and a graduate of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology after two years. "While watching Juvenile Justice, I was shocked at how a series could tell society a message," he said. "I will try my best to learn in the shooting studio and help make a good series.
With an empowering plot focusing on the Educational Rights Protection Bureau to reclaim the authority in schools and with a solid cast, True Lessons (WT) will be providing fulfilling justice to viewers. Stay tuned for more news, only on Netflix.
