Nepal FM Deuba Hails SAU as a Beacon of Education for South Asia

  • Professor KK Agarwal, President of South Asian University, founded by SAARC countries, made a courtesy visit to Nepal's Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba at the Sheraton Hotel in New Delhi. During the visit, Professor Agarwal briefed the Foreign Minister on the university's courses and other ongoing activities.

    He noted that this is the first and only university in South Asia operated collectively by all SAARC member countries, including India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Professor Agarwal highlighted that both the faculty and students at the university come from SAARC member countries, creating a campus environment that reflects a blend of unity and diversity.

    Nepal's Foreign Minister, Arju Rana Deuba, congratulated SAU Vice Chancellor Professor KK Agarwal and commended the university's "knowledge without borders" concept. She praised the international institution for fostering stronger ties between SAARC member countries and described South Asian University as a beacon of education for the region. Minister Deuba also expressed her intention to visit the university in New Delhi again soon.

    Professor Agarwal told the Foreign Minister that such courses are being started in the Institute of South Asian Studies, which is focused on solving the social, economic, and geographical problems of the SAARC countries. Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba said that Nepal will seriously consider any help that will be provided to enhance the dignity of the university and in the interest of the students studying here.

    Professor KK Agarwal gifted traditional shawls, manimalas, and mementos reflecting the cultural richness of South and North India to Nepal's Foreign Minister, Arju Rana Deuba, who was visiting India for the first time since assuming her role.
