Nanjing University in Jiangsu province is pioneering a "core curriculum system in artificial intelligence literacy" for incoming students starting in September, marking a significant advancement in Chinese higher education. This initiative aims to cultivate highly adaptable talent and is the first of its kind among Chinese universities. Over 3,700 new students will participate in the AI literacy program.
The curriculum includes a compulsory core AI literacy course, additional AI literacy courses, and interdisciplinary courses integrating various fields with artificial intelligence, covering knowledge, skills, values, and ethics. Students meeting specific conditions can earn a certificate in artificial intelligence alongside their majors.
