Moonton Games Partners with DepEd for 'Balik Eskwela' Notebook Drive

  • Moonton Games, the developer behind the popular mobile game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), has partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines to launch a notebook distribution drive called 'Balik Eskwela'. The initiative aims to support students in need for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year by distributing over 40,000 notebooks to 159 schools across General Trias, Dasmariñas, Quezon Province, San Pablo City, and Cavite Province.

The 'Balik Eskwela' project underscores Moonton Games' commitment to education and its role in providing essential resources for continuous learning. Ken Ryan Lee, Community Hero and Student Leader Community Manager at Moonton Games Philippines, highlighted the company's dedication to supporting young students through this donation drive. "Moonton Games has advocated education as we believe in its importance in providing the foundation for lifelong learning. This donation drive showcases our commitment to helping young students by giving them the resources they need for continuous learning. We thank the Department of Education for this collaboration", Lee stated.

DepEd officials expressed their gratitude for the partnership. Arvin Doloque, DepEd Project Development Officer II of the Bureau of Learner Support Services – Youth Formation Division, praised Moonton Games for selecting the education sector as a focus of their corporate social responsibility efforts. "We are very much thankful for the partnership initiated by Moonton Games helping our selected learner-recipients in the Calabarzon region. We are grateful [you selected] the education sector through your corporate social responsibility. We look forward to having a long-term partnership with Moonton Games", Doloque said.

The 'Balik Eskwela' initiative marks the beginning of what Moonton Games hopes will be a long-lasting partnership with DepEd through various educational programs. Previously, Moonton Games signed a memorandum of agreement with National University Laguna to promote gaming and esports while developing students' skill sets for careers in the industry. Additionally, Moonton Games has conducted career talks, creativity workshops, and esports journalism workshops at various educational institutions.

Moonton Games' ongoing Student Events and Partnerships Program (SEPP) further reinforces its commitment to fostering educational and career opportunities in the esports sector across the Philippines.
