In a significant move to strengthen academic collaboration, Monash University, Indonesia and Universitas Katolik Indonesia (Unika) Atma Jaya signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The ceremony took place at the Unika Atma Jaya campus in South Jakarta, marking the beginning of a promising partnership between these two institutions.
The Monash University, Indonesia delegation was led by Professor Matthew Nicholson, Pro Vice-Chancellor and President, and Ibu Tantia Dian Permata Indah, COO and Vice President (Operations and Enterprise). Meanwhile, representing Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya were Prof. Dr. dr. Yuda Turana, Sp.S(K), the Rector, and Ibu Yanti, S.Si, M.Si, Ph.D., Vice Rector for Innovation, Research, Cooperation and Alumni.
Ibu Tantia Dian Permata Indah expressed her excitement about the partnership, highlighting the wide range of opportunities for collaboration. She emphasised potential research partnerships in areas such as the Banten Mosaic, public health, and psychology, among others. "Today is a wonderful start to a more wonderful partnership in the future with Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya", she stated.
Echoing this sentiment, Ibu Yanti shared her institution's enthusiasm, saying, "This MoU signing makes us really happy and proud, as it signifies our collaboration in strengthening teaching, research, and community service to our society".
The MoU was officially signed by Prof. Dr. dr. Yuda Turana, Sp.S(K) from Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya and Ibu Tantia Dian Permata Indah from Monash University, Indonesia, solidifying the commitment of both institutions to this partnership.
Following the signing ceremony, discussions quickly turned to immediate collaborative efforts. A key initiative emerging from this partnership is the university pathway scholarship program offered by Monash University, Indonesia. This scholarship opportunity is specifically designed for alumni and soon-to-graduate students of university partners, offering a chance for full scholarship funding for master's degree programs for January 2025 intake. Among others, the collaborative research plan for Banten, the premise where both universities are located at was also discussed, with the Banten mosaic initiative from Monash University Indonesia becoming the central topic of the discussion, signifying the commitment from both universities to contribute to society.
This MoU signing represents a significant step forward in fostering academic excellence and cross-institutional collaboration in Indonesia's higher education landscape.
