Malaysian envoy to attract more number of students from India

  • Malaysia is actively engaged in efforts to attract more Indian students as part of its global university promotion initiative. Currently, there are around 6,000 Indian nationals enrolled in Malaysian universities. The Malaysian High Commissioner to India, Datuk Muzafar Shah Mustafa, made this announcement during a virtual event that marked the launch of Binary University's scholarship program. This initiative underscores Malaysia's dedication to enhancing its global education appeal and building academic partnerships with Indian students. The "My Binary International Grant-India" (MyBIG-India) scholarship program aims to offer Indian students a valuable opportunity to access high-quality education in Malaysia, according to his statements.

    According to his statements, the "My Binary International Grant-India" scholarship program is a fantastic opportunity for Indian students to access high-quality education in Malaysia. He expressed Malaysia's enthusiasm for the proposed establishment of an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in the country. Emphasizing Malaysia's commitment to becoming a hub of talent and knowledge, he mentioned the goal of attracting and nurturing bright minds globally. The objective is for Malaysia to serve as a center of excellence in generating, disseminating, and applying knowledge. Malaysia aims to increase its international student population to 250,000 by 2025, compared to the current figure of about 130,000.

    In celebration of Binary University's 40th Anniversary in 2024, the Senate of Binary University has sanctioned a special grant aimed at alleviating the financial burden of parents and students from selected developing nations. Named the MyBinary International Grant, this exclusive grant amounts to USD 50 Million and is accessible to international students from developing countries applying for the academic year 2023-2024. Successful applicants under the MyBinary International Grant will benefit from a 50% reduction in yearly tuition fees. This grant is exclusively available to students enrolling in the September 2023 and February 2024 intakes. Throughout their entire course of study, students are only required to cover the remaining 50% of the tuition fees per year.
