Malaysia and China are poised to enhance collaborations in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), as affirmed by Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the Deputy Prime Minister. This commitment emerged from his discussions with Liu Jianchao, the Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
During the meeting, it was agreed that China would extend its support by offering more training programs, sharing expertise, and providing educational opportunities in technology and vocational fields. This initiative aims to benefit both students and workers in Malaysia.
Ahmad Zahid also highlighted the upcoming celebration of the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations on May 31, which was a focal point of their discussions.
Reflecting on recent engagements with Chinese leaders visiting Malaysia, Ahmad Zahid expressed confidence in the burgeoning relationship between the two nations. These interactions underscored a mutual desire for further cooperation at both party and governmental levels, aimed at advancing the interests of the people of both countries.
Key attendees at the meeting included Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin, and Majilis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
