  • To foster communication, collaboration, and resource sharing within the creative arts sector across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Macao Polytechnic University, Sun Yat-Sen University, South China University of Technology, South China Normal University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangdong University of Finance and Economics, and the Education University of Hong Kong have come together to form the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance for Creative Arts." Led by Mei-Kei Lai, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design at Macao Polytechnic University, faculty members and students recently visited the Education University of Hong Kong for the alliance's inauguration ceremony and inaugural conference. The visit proved invaluable, offering significant insights for all involved.

The alliance aims to develop a comprehensive system for creative arts education across universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao to build a mutually beneficial platform that promotes academic exchanges, collaborative research, and shared resources among member universities. MPU joins the alliance to cooperate in talent cultivation, scientific research, collaborative innovation and other aspects to expand the educational development of the Greater Bay Area and support China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative.

During the conference, Tian Yuan, the Visual Arts program coordinator, discussed the reformation of the visual arts program and its potential future directions in alignment with the development and innovation of Macao SAR. Scholars from various universities across the Greater Bay Area were engaged in this discourse. Additionally, Xie Jiarui and Chan I Lei, students from the Master's program in Interdisciplinary Arts, presented their academic research topics: "The Design of Digital Memory Commemorative Products from the Perspective of Emotional Design Theory" and "The Visual Symbols Shaping of Modern Cities: From Nam Van to Ruins of St. Paul's". These presentations deepened attendees' understanding of interdisciplinary integration and the application of new technologies in higher education institutions throughout the Greater Bay Area, inspiring novel avenues for future research. The students expressed eagerness to contribute to the creative arts landscape, aiming to foster social harmony through their work.

Macao Polytechnic University's Faculty of Arts and Design plays an active role in collaborative endeavors within the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance for Creative Arts." This involvement spans a range of conferences and exhibitions designed to foster academic exchange and creative integration among Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. Through these initiatives, the faculty and students have found a platform for fruitful collaboration and exchange opportunities.
