The Da Nang University of Science and Education, a member university of the University of Da Nang, will have a special one-year academic program for foreigners to learn more about Viet Nam's history, culture, geography and heritage.
Vietnamese comprehensive culture program, taught in English, will comprise two semesters to enhance Vietnamese language skills and equip foreigners with information on Vietnamese geography, history, art and socio-economics
The university announced the programme would enable students to receive an immersive experience into the nation's traditions, arts, cuisine, as well as the economy, and the curriculum will consist of selective practical exposure to customs, culinary arts and business communication, in addition to incorporating learning about festivals in different regions.
Students will feel Vietnam's heritage firsthand through experiential learning in traditional crafts, folk performance, and traditional arts, performances, studying the history and cultural importance of traditional Vietnamese music, dance and theatre.
International students will get the opportunity to learn about Việt Nam's culinary culture and how food is an important part of its people's culture and everyday life such as Pho (noodle soup) Banh Mì (sandwich style bread).
There will be multiple areas of instruction in business communication, local business practices, tourism, general history, economics and field studies, where students are required to do a final project.
The university has signed cooperation agreements for sustainable tourism, education and scientific research with community-based tourism co-operatives in Hội An, Quang Ngai and Da Nang to contribute to further study and experience in biodiversity conservation, community-based sustainable tourism and preservation of traditional culture.
Foreign students may submit their applications prior to July 15, for the initial course beginning on August 2, or with a deadline for submission of application on September 30 for the course beginning on October 15.
