Lincoln University NSUK Campus Welcomes 500 Pioneer Students at Matriculation

  • Professor Bibi Florina, the Pro-Chancellor of Lincoln University College in Malaysia, reaffirmed the university's commitment to developing future leaders through outstanding global education. Speaking at the university's inaugural matriculation ceremony held at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) campus, she emphasized that the collaboration between Lincoln University and NSUK will significantly influence the future of education in Nigeria.

She mentioned that the emerging institution at the NSUK campus welcomed over 500 students into various academic programs recognized by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). Additionally, she highlighted that the establishment of Lincoln University College in Nigeria resulted from the NUC’s Transnational Education Programme (TNE), which aims to promote international academic collaboration.

“This partnership promises to open new opportunities for students and faculties, fostering educational growth and cross-border exchange". “With a curriculum focusing on 70 percent practical training and 30 percent theory, Lincoln University is committed to producing not only knowledgeable graduates but also skilled, job-creating entrepreneurs”, she said.

In his speech about the university's mission to provide world-class education in Nigeria, the founder and president, Professor Amiya Bhaumik, announced that 2,400 students have received an 80 percent scholarship. This initiative allows many students to afford tuition fees comparable to those of government institutions.

He stressed that this initiative reflects the university's dedication to offering affordable, high-quality education. During the event, NSUK's Vice Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, along with her key officials, expressed their enthusiasm at being the first Nigerian university to host an international institution on its campus.

She said, “This partnership will set a new standard for higher education in Nigeria. We are delighted to be part of this historic moment and remain committed to maintaining high academic standards for our students".

She stated that the success of the inaugural matriculation signals a bright future for Lincoln University College in Nigeria and for the students who will gain from its globally recognized education. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries from international organizations, government entities, the private sector, professional associations, as well as parents and supporters.
