The KT&G Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit organization associated with KT&G, a global company based in South Korea, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency under the Indonesian Ministry of Industry. Subsequent to this agreement, the foundation awarded scholarships totaling approximately Rp 450 million to approximately 130 students from polytechnic universities and academies affiliated with BPSDMI. Established in 2008, the KT&G Scholarship Foundation aims to provide stable educational opportunities for socially disadvantaged students. Since 2018, the foundation has expanded its scholarship programs to various countries, including Indonesia, Turkey, and Russia, as part of its commitment to global social responsibility.
Since 2017, KT&G has been running an extracurricular activity community in Indonesia called 'SangSang Univ.' with the goal of broadening educational opportunities for Indonesian college students. Within the 'SangSang Univ.' initiative, KT&G has set up a community center for college students called 'Univ. Zone.' This center offers a diverse range of classes covering education, skill enhancement, and hobbies, all provided free of charge. The classes available at 'Univ. Zone' encompass various subjects, including career development training, K-Pop dance, barista skills, and more. Additionally, KT&G has established a Korean language school in Surabaya, providing Korean language classes and cultural experience programs for Indonesian students interested in Korean culture.
KT&G has organized the 'SangSang Startup School,' an entrepreneurial training program designed to nurture young entrepreneurs and equip them with essential entrepreneurial skills. In the previous year, the focus of the program centered around themes such as environmental protection, revitalizing the local economy by supporting small business owners, and addressing educational inequalities. Participants in the 'SangSang Startup School' underwent an idea competition, entrepreneurial classes, and mentoring sessions. The program culminated in the IR Pitching Day, where 15 finalist teams presented their entrepreneurial ideas. Each of the 15 finalist teams received cash prizes, gifts, and valuable feedback from experienced entrepreneurs. The ultimate winning team was granted a cash prize of Rp 47 million.
