Khalifa University leads MENA in THE Young Univ Rankings 2024

  • Khalifa University of Science and Technology has achieved remarkable recognition in the global academic arena, soaring to the 27th position worldwide in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings for 2024. This achievement marks a significant ascent from its previous standing at 49th place, underscoring the institution's dedication to excellence and innovation in education and research.

The 2024 edition of the rankings witnessed an expansion, with a total of 673 universities included compared to 605 in the previous year. Notably, 499 institutions obtained 'reporter' status, indicating their provision of data but falling short of meeting THE's stringent eligibility criteria for ranking.

THE Young University Rankings distinguish the top-performing institutions globally that are under 50 years old, employing the same rigorous evaluation criteria as the flagship THE World University Rankings. This methodology ensures a thorough assessment across 13 key performance indicators, encompassing aspects such as teaching quality, research impact, knowledge transfer, and international engagement.

Khalifa University's ascent in the rankings solidifies its position as a premier educational hub not only in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region but also on a global scale. Maintaining its leadership in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the university also secured the 40th spot in THE Asia University Rankings for 2024.

The rankings provide a holistic evaluation of universities, considering their effectiveness in fulfilling core missions including teaching excellence, impactful research endeavours, knowledge dissemination, and fostering an international outlook. Khalifa University's consistent performance across these domains underscores its commitment to advancing education, research, and innovation, thereby contributing significantly to the academic landscape regionally and internationally.
