Khalifa University of Science and Technology, renowned for its expertise in technology and research, has partnered with Manta Aircraft, a pioneering company in hybrid-electric advanced air mobility (AAM) systems, to collaborate on developing flight systems for a new Vertical and Short Take Off and Landing (VSTOL) platform. This landmark agreement signals the start of a multi-year collaboration aimed at transforming Urban and Regional Air Mobility.
The collaboration is a crucial component of the efforts undertaken by the Khalifa University Center for Flight Systems Research and Training (FALCON) within the Intelligent Aerospace Systems Group (IASG). The focus will be on enhancing capabilities in Sense-and-Avoid (SAA), Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC), as well as Human-Machine Interface and Interactions technologies. These advancements are essential for the efficient operation of the versatile Manta-ANN aircraft platform across its various models.
Heading this project is Dr. Roberto Sabatini, a distinguished figure in Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Principal Investigator at Khalifa University’s FALCON Center. The initiative is aimed at bolstering the aerospace and aviation innovation landscape in the UAE, aligning with the national agenda for sustainable economic growth in key sectors.
