Top internet career portal Jobstreet of SEEK and the Department of Education (DepEd) has launched its official Career Readiness Caravan, a national program aiming to enhance employability and career awareness of Senior High School (SHS) and Alternative Learning System (ALS) students, in a bid to equip young Filipinos with competencies that will propel them to future success.
The program aims to empower the students and assist them in learning skills, sharing information regarding the job market, and offering practical advice and career tips to sail through their working careers confidently.
It began as pocket runs in Metro Manila major cities, namely Valenzuela, Navotas, Taguig and Pateros, and Caloocan. The pilot run was successful, attracting 200 participants, which underwent workshops, speeches, and career-enhancement activities that enhanced their confidence level and employment preparedness.
Also, Jobstreet by SEEK participated in the National Career Expo 2025, which took place in Lubao, Pampanga an initiative at a national scale aimed at increasing career preparedness. The activity, co-organized by Bureau of Learner Support Services-Youth Formation Division (BLSS-YFD) and DepEd Region III, hosted more than 450 student participants. It provided interactive career preparedness, industry data access, and motivational sessions particularly for students, where they were given real tools and skills on how to be successful at landing a job in a competitive job market.
Jobstreet by SEEK advocates for this cause because of the difficulties experienced by senior high school graduates to gain employment. A survey done by the Philippine Business for Education (PBEd) says that out of every 5 Filipino firms, only 1 accepts senior high school graduates for employment. With the Career Readiness Caravan, Jobstreet hopes to equip students with knowledge and resources needed to close these gaps and make the transition from school to work.
Apart from the Caravan, DepEd and Jobstreet by SEEK will have other projects in the future, such as on-ground career fairs to allow face-to-face interaction between employers and job seekers for immediate placement into a job, and career hub, an online platform that offers ongoing support to ensure learners transition effectively into the workplace. Similarly, the career platform will also give away complimentary job ads for open teaching posts in government schools to also reach more suitable applicants. "Jobstreet by SEEK is not only an employment website; we are a career partner to every Filipino student, providing them with the appropriate information and confidence in order to achieve the job they desire". That's why we continue to collaborate with government agencies such as DepEd in order to make young Filipino learners empowered and facilitate their easy transition from learning to work", Jobstreet by SEEK Philippines Managing Director Dannah Majarocon stated.
