Indo-Russian Joint Research Call for Proposals 2024

  • Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India and Russian Science Foundation (RSF) have arrangement for funding of Joint Research Proposals in India and Russia in the areas of Basic Science. Under this Programme, each project will receive annual funding of up to equivalent of US $ 100,000 in respective national currencies.

    DST and RSF invite active Indian and Russian scientists / researchers to submit proposals for Joint Research Project in the following areas under DST- RSF cooperation: 

    Below are researchable areas in the eligible areas:

    New Materials and Clean Energy: Smart Healthcare and Medicine, Safe Food, Smart Transport and Telecommunications, Plant and Animal Biotechnology, Artificial Intelligence, Earthquake and Ocean Science. No outside projects would be considered.

    Every project can take advantage of an annual budget of up to $100,000 (national currencies equivalent) to cover consumable costs, research fellowships, and visits. Projects run over three years, and each team should have between 4 to 10 members, with at least half of the members younger than 45 years of age.

    The principal investigators from India should be regular faculty members in recognized institutions who do not have a retirement plan within the immediate future of the project. They must also have published at least 10 research articles in the last five years in SCI-indexed journals.

    The Indian and Russian team leaders shall submit identical applications to the respective agencies following guidelines available on the websites of DST and RSF. Only those applications received before the deadline and in the prescribed format will be considered. Researchers currently working under any of the extant Indo-Russian projects scheduled to complete after December 31, 2024, are not eligible for this program.

    Ideally, successful projects would bring about at least 10 SCI-indexed journal publications and will be peer reviewed followed by evaluation by independent advisory panels.

    The due date for submission of proposals is August 8, 2024, the announcement of chosen projects is expected to be on February 28, 2025, and the start for funded projects is expected to be on April 1, 2025.
