Indian Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George, welcomed Fukushiro Nukaga, the speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives, to India House. During their meeting, they explored avenues to enhance the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership. They also deliberated on reinforcing parliamentary exchanges, fostering business-to-business relationships, and collaborating on human resources and education initiatives.
"Ambassador @AmbSibiGeorge received H.E. Mr. Fukushiro NUKAGA, Hon'ble Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan at India House", the Indian Embassy in Japan stated on X. "Discussed ways for deepening further India-Japan Special Strategic & Global Partnership, including strengthening Parliamentary exchanges, B2B ties, and cooperation in human resources & education matters", it added.
The Indian ambassador also hosted Japan's Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Komura Masahiro. Their discussions centered on deepening India-Japan relations and enhancing collaboration in cultural and tourism domains. "Ambassador @AmbSibiGeorge received H.E. Mr. KOMURA Masahiro, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs and discussed strengthening further India-Japan relations, including enhancing cooperation in cultural & tourism fields", the Indian Embassy stated.
Earlier, Ambassador George participated in the listing ceremony at the Tokyo Stock Exchange, where he highlighted India's tremendous growth potential. "Ambassador @AmbSibiGeorge participated in the listing ceremony at the Tokyo Stock Exchange for the BlackRock iShares India Nifty 50 Exchange Traded Fund. Ambassador in his address, highlighted the tremendous growth potential of India", the Indian Embassy stated.
This week in Japan, the India-Japan Maritime Exercise 2024 'Jimex 24' began with the arrival of India's indigenous stealth frigate, INS Shivalik, at Yokosuka. The Ministry of Defence stated that the eighth edition of this exercise, which has been conducted since 2012, aims to strengthen cooperation and interoperability between the Indian and Japanese navies.
The exercise consists of both harbour and sea phases. During the harbour phase, activities will include professional engagements, sports events, and social interactions. Subsequently, the two navies will collaborate to refine their combat capabilities at sea, focusing on enhancing interoperability through intricate multi-disciplinary operations across surface, sub-surface, and air domains.
