India, Thailand Inks MoU to Promote Ayurvedic Research and Courses

  • The National Institute of Ayurveda in Jaipur has entered into an agreement with Thailand's Traditional and Alternative Medicine Department to collaborate academically in Ayurveda and Thai traditional medicine. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalized during the 10th India-Thailand Joint Commission meeting at Hyderabad House in Delhi, according to a statement from the Ayush Ministry.

    The Ayush Ministry joint secretary B K Singh and Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, Director General of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, Thailand, signed the MoU in the presence of various dignitaries. The Ayush Ministry stated that the collaboration aims to promote, facilitate, and advance academic cooperation in Ayurveda and Thai Traditional Medicine, emphasizing equality and mutual benefit.

    The MoU is designed to enable the exchange of experts for research and training programs, academic and technical activities, and the conduct of research. It will also facilitate the exchange of information, technologies, and best practices related to traditional medicine. The statement highlights that participants will engage in mutual cooperation and collaborative activities, offering training courses in both Thailand and India and conducting joint research studies on common diseases.

    The National Institute of Ayurveda and the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine will share information on regulatory mechanisms, best practices, guidelines, and courses of study and training. Additionally, they plan to organize alternating conferences and meetings in India and Thailand. The collaborative efforts extend to facilitating visits and exchanges involving policymakers, academics, experts, researchers, practitioners, and students, according to the statement.
