India committed to advancing global education at G20 EdWG

  • In the inaugural G20 Education Working Group meeting under the Brazilian Presidency, India highlighted its commitment to advancing the worldwide education agenda. The virtual gathering witnessed India's strong engagement and influential stance on key aspects such as enhancing the skills of education professionals, improving teaching and learning methods, and utilizing technology to promote inclusive and collaborative learning environments. The Indian delegation emphasized these critical areas, emphasizing a resolute dedication to the global education agenda during the digital forum.

    The delegation's discussion extended beyond enhancing the quality of education solely within India, emphasizing the crucial role of education in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They particularly highlighted the Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) initiative, showcasing India's dedication to integrating education with environmental awareness. Indian officials provided a comprehensive overview of the country's exemplary practices, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020. The initiatives presented ranged from SWAYAM and SWAYAM PRABHA, digital programs aimed at democratizing education, to the Academic Bank of Credit and SAMARTH, focused on elevating the quality and accessibility of higher education.

    The delegation also highlighted the National Professional Standards for Teachers and the 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme, underscoring India's emphasis on empowering educators. Additionally, the reference to DIKSHA and NISHTHA, digital platforms aimed at enhancing teachers' capabilities, along with the Malviya Mission Teacher Training Programme, further emphasized India's dedication to strengthening the teaching profession. India's engagement in the G20 Education Working Group meeting went beyond mere attendance; it was a robust demonstration of the nation's commitment to advancing the global education agenda.
