IIM Nagpur Hosts International Conference on Business Trends

  • Under the theme 'Shaping the Future: Business Management Trends & Insights for Tomorrow', IIM Nagpur successfully organized the IIM Nagpur-Ivey Case Conference 2024, conducted in a hybrid format. It brought participants from around the world to participate and share engaging discussions on emerging trends in business management.

    The conference had witnessed an incredible 452 submissions, where 361 were selected for presentation that highlighted the range of research and insights. Of the international submissions of 52, 30 were chosen to be included in the sessions.

    The conference showcased exceptional diversity, attractingexceptional researchers and participants from 16 countries across five continents, including the United States, UK, Russia, South Africa, Australia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Finland, Brazil, Japan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, UAE, Iraq, Singapore, and Germany. Esteemed researchers from renowned global institutions such as Griffith University, NUS Singapore, UTAS-Ibri, and the University of Eastern Finland, along with premier Indian institutions like IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIT Kanpur, NIT Jamshedpur, and XLRI Jamshedpur, contributed to the intellectual rigor of the event.

    Selected cases will be forwarded for consideration to prestigious outlets such as Ivey Publishing, Emerging Markets Case Studies(Scopus), Business Perspective and Research (Scopus & ABDC), Vision: The Journal of Business Perspective (Scopus & ABDC), conference proceedings (edited book), and the South Asian Journal of Business and Management Cases (Scopus). Notable industry participation included companies such as John Deere, NTPC Limited, and Novo Nordisk India, whose active engagement added immense value to the discussions. 

    At the inauguration, Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director of IIM Nagpur, described the conference as a landmark initiative to foster extensive research collaborations and facilitate the development of case studies with a global perspective rooted in Indian contexts. He emphasized the significance of this step in IIM Nagpur’s journey toward becoming a leading hub for research and publication. As the third IIM after Ahmedabad and Bangalore to collaborate with Ivey Publishing, IIM Nagpur established a Case Centre on its campus, marking a significant milestone in its research and pedagogical endeavors. Professor Rakesh Gupta, Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at IIM Nagpur, emphasized that the center will organize workshops, conferences, and competitions to nurture case writing and teaching skills, thereby positioning IIM Nagpur as a leader.

    Prof Prashant Gupta, Dean of Academics, IIM Nagpur, informed us about the growth of IIM Nagpur in the last few years. Prof Yatish Joshi, Professor of Marketing, proposed the vote of thanks and thanked all the participants for making it a big success. 

    The conference remained a unique and prestigious platform for researchers and academicians to present their cases on various management themes. Its global scale and partnership with Ivey Publishing amplified its impact, establishing the event as a significant highlight of 2024. It reinforced IIM Nagpur’s commitment to advancing case-based learning and research in business management.
