IICA Joins Forces with Kyrgyz Academy to Boost Foreign Policy Skills

  • The International Institute of Central Asia (IICA) and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan have initiated a joint effort to strengthen knowledge and research in the fields of foreign policy and international relations. Javlon Vakhabov, Director of IICA, and A. Kylychev, Rector of the Diplomatic Academy, convened in Bishkek to solidify this collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

    During their meeting, Vakhabov and Kylychev deliberated on the reciprocal advantages of their partnership, underscoring the significance of sharing knowledge and conducting research together. They emphasized the opportunity to make strides in the realms of foreign policy and international relations through their joint initiatives.

    The Diplomatic Academy, established in 2001 under the auspices of the Kyrgyzstan Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented an overview of its comprehensive educational programs. Initially focused on 'International Relations', 'Law' and 'Economics' the Academy expanded its curriculum in 2017 to include 'Management' and 'Business Management.' By 2018, the Academy had further broadened its scope to encompass 'Journalism' and 'Linguistics'.

    The Kyrgyz institution praised the Uzbekistan government for its dedication to comprehensive reforms in higher education. These reforms encompass restructuring the retraining system, modernizing both higher and secondary specialized education, integrating modern teaching methods and technologies, and promoting the advancement of science and research initiatives.

    The Memorandum of Understanding represents a strategic partnership focused on exchanging experts and researchers. Both organizations are enthusiastic about creating and applying innovative training methods for professionals in foreign policy, international relations, and law. Furthermore, they intend to collaborate on research addressing current foreign policy issues and domestic socio-economic developments in Central Asia, leading to joint publications.
