This year’s keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Karen Murcia from Curtin University, Australia, gave a discussion on the need to foster digital competencies in STEM education. Among the steps she was able to talk about in her presentation were promoting interdisciplinary and project-based learning, emphasizing computational and creative thinking in problem-solving, integrating emerging technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) across STEM curricula, focusing on equity and inclusivity in STEM access, and providing professional development and support for educators. Following this were plenary talks by speakers whose topics heavily revolved around current trends and future directions in STEM education.
