Huawei, King Khalid University Partner to Enhance Saudi ICT Talent

  • Huawei and the University of King Khalid have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance digital skills in Saudi Arabia. The partnership, witnessed by President Professor Falleh R. M. Al-Solamy and Huawei Tech Investment Saudi Arabia Chairman Mr. Liam Zhang, aims to empower university students with advanced technology skills, aligning with the Kingdom's 2030 Vision.

    The MoU, formalized by Dr. Areej Alasiry, Dean of Computer Science College at KKU, and Mr. Wu Han, Deputy CEO at Huawei, signifies a commitment to developing the next generation of ICT professionals in Saudi Arabia. This collaboration provides KKU students access to cutting-edge technologies and global expertise, contributing to the digital transformation goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

    Both parties expressed excitement about the partnership. Prof. Al-Solamy highlighted the enthusiasm of young Saudi talents for advanced technologies, considering Huawei's global expertise as instrumental in achieving Vision 2030 goals. Mr. Liam Zhang emphasized Huawei's dedication to collaborating with Saudi universities to nurture industry-ready ICT talent, aiming to drive industry development and innovate talent development models.

    Since its launch in 2013, the Huawei ICT Academy has played a crucial role in helping universities cultivate ICT talent aligned with industry needs. The partnership with KKU exemplifies Huawei's commitment to an open, shared ICT talent ecosystem, supporting industry development and meeting enterprise requirements. Through this initiative, Huawei and KKU seek to establish a robust talent supply chain, significantly contributing to the advancement of Saudi Arabia's ICT sector and broader digital transformation agenda.

    This collaboration not only marks a significant development in Saudi Arabia's education and technology sectors but also represents progress in realizing the Kingdom's Vision 2030. By fostering a skilled ICT workforce, the partnership emphasizes the pivotal role of academia and global tech leaders in shaping a future-ready digital economy.
