HK China Team Wins PIMSO International Math & Science Finals

  • From April 5th to 8th, held at the Solea Resort in Cebu, Philippines, the Hong Kong China Team's triumph has firmly established Hong Kong as a formidable presence in global education. Surpassing competitors, the team achieved an impressive 60 percent gold medal win rate in mathematics, exceeding the performance of traditionally dominant teams and setting a new standard of excellence. Their exceptional success positioned them as runners-up in the overall gold medal count, underscoring their commitment and proficiency.

    Looking ahead to future challenges, Dr. K.H. Lee, the team's coach, emphasized a strategy of intensified preparation for the upcoming SIMSO Final in August in Bangkok. Recognizing the escalating competition, Dr. Lee stressed the importance of surpassing expectations through rigorous training and dedication, aiming not just to compete but to excel and establish new benchmarks of achievement. 

    Among the standout performers, Sky Ho Tsz Hang, a 7th grader, showcased remarkable talent by clinching victory in the 8th-grade math category, earning the distinction of double world champion. Reflecting on his achievement, Sky expressed gratitude for the recognition of his capabilities and highlighted the significance of his success in tackling more advanced challenges.

    Similarly, Ella Cheng Yin Tai's triumph as a world champion reinforced Hong Kong's prowess in the competition. Ella's humility and foresight underscored the importance of perseverance and hard work in achieving personal milestones and navigating the demanding landscape of mathematics.

    The Hong Kong China Team also celebrated the achievements of four students who excelled in both Math and Science, earning the prestigious "PIMSOLVER AWARD." One recipient, Sim Lui Yee, shared insights into his approach, emphasizing the development of logical reasoning and consistent training as key factors in his success at PIMSO.
