HBKU Partners with Web Summit to Drive Global Innovation

  • Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has entered into a long-term partnership with Web Summit to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and research transformation while enhancing Qatar’s innovation ecosystem on the global stage.

Building on HBKU's successful involvement in last year's Web Summit, the agreement ensures the university's participation in future editions of the world’s largest tech event, including those in Doha, Lisbon, and potentially other international locations. Starting with Web Summit Qatar 2025, HBKU will engage in global discussions on critical topics that align with Qatar’s national development goals, showcasing its expertise in applied research that contributes to the nation’s society and economy while making a positive impact on communities worldwide.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Ahmad M. Hasnah, President, HBKU, noted: “Web Summit Qatar and our university are a reflection of the country’s establishment as a hub for technological innovation. We both aim to foster a convergence of knowledge and industries in the Arab world that scales research initiatives in critical areas and strengthens its innovation and business landscape. Our engagement with Web Summit will ensure that we can promote Qatar’s dynamic knowledge-based economy to investors and stakeholders around the world”.

HBKU will play a significant role in the Web Summit Qatar 2025 by featuring dynamic speakers and experts who will cover a variety of topics, including artificial intelligence, precision health, progressive education, and sustainability, all aligned with both the university’s and the country’s priorities. The university will also showcase cutting-edge technologies and start-ups developed through its strong incubation and development ecosystem, supported by its Office of Innovation and Industrial Relations. Faculty members, scientists, researchers, and students will present their technologies and start-ups during the summit, engaging with peers, investors, and global stakeholders, highlighting the university's research-driven approach and commitment to fostering entrepreneurship to address pressing global challenges.
