Guam recently completed two successful international programs in partnership with Japan’s top universities, offering students valuable hands-on experiences in tourism and business. Organized by the Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB), Gifu Shotoku Gakuen University (GSGU), and Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (KUFS), the programs aimed to enhance global learning through industry seminars, cultural exchanges, and real-world opportunities.
The International Tourism & Business Program, hosted by GSGU, ran from February 24 to March 1, 2025. Fifteen students participated in the program, which took place at the University of Guam. Highlights included an English learning class by the English Guam Club, a seminar on tourism marketing strategies by GVB, a session on working abroad by LamLam Tours, and career development insights from Ernst & Young. Students also toured Guam’s academic and business environments. This program marks its first year, and GSGU plans to continue it annually to provide students with global business and tourism knowledge.
The Global Tourism & Hospitality Program, led by KUFS, was held from February 16 to March 9, 2025. Also with 15 students, the program offered a Tourism Marketing Seminar on sustainable tourism by GVB, a Hilton Internship Program for hands-on hotel management, and an English Adventure Program by the University of Guam. Students presented solutions for Guam’s tourism challenges, including strategies for social media influencers and branding local cuisine. This program has been running for six years and continues to strengthen international connections with Guam.
Both universities remain dedicated to offering practical, globally-oriented education, preparing students to contribute to the travel and business industries worldwide. Through these programs, Guam continues to enhance its role in international education and global tourism.
