France Strengthens Academic Ties with Asia-Pacific at APAIE 2025 Conference in New Delhi

  • Around 35 French higher education institutions are participating in the 2025 Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) conference in New Delhi, aiming to enhance France's academic and scientific influence in the Asia-Pacific region. Coordinated by Campus France, the five-day event runs from March 24 to 28 at Yashoboomi and includes 120 French delegates, along with five diplomatic representatives from Asia, under the French Pavilion.

This year’s APAIE conference, expected to attract over 2,000 participants from more than 60 countries, emphasizes the role of higher education in tackling global challenges through research and collaboration. One of the main objectives for France is to strengthen academic partnerships with India, as the country targets hosting 30,000 Indian students by 2030.

Olivier Chiche-Portiche, Director of Geographic Coordination at Campus France, highlighted the importance of the Asia-Pacific region, noting that it remains the leading driver of global student mobility and is crucial for scientific and technological research. French institutions, including universities, business schools, and engineering schools, have a significant presence in the region, furthering these strategic objectives.

A key highlight of the conference is the Campus France poster session on March 26, where a survey of 10,000 Asia-Pacific alumni educated in France will be showcased. The survey reveals that 37% of graduates found jobs in France, 64percent were employed within six months, and 93% recommend France for studies.

The event also underscores the growing mobility between France and India, with over 400 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) between French and Indian institutions. In 2023-2024, the number of students from the Asia-Pacific region in France rose by 13percent, including a 12percent increase from India.

Campus France, a governmental body operating under the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, plays a key role in promoting French higher education globally, managing scholarships, supporting exchange programs, and coordinating the France Alumni network.
