Foxconn signed an MOU with Indian universities to improve language skills

  • Hon Hai Technology Group, also known as Foxconn, has recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with four Indian tertiary institutions to enhance collaboration between industry and academia and foster the development of future talent. The Mandarin-language education project involves partnerships with Shiv Nadar University, VEL TECH, Assam Don Bosco University, and Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, supported by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC). In its initial phase, Foxconn is investing 3 million rupees to advance local Mandarin-language education through a collaborative effort between industry, government, and academia. The initiative is anticipated to grow, encompassing additional institutions in the future. As part of the project, Foxconn will provide financial support for Taiwanese teachers teaching in India at the aforementioned four schools.

In the initial phase, nearly one hundred students from Indian colleges and universities are set to participate in Mandarin-language education courses. Foxconn has expressed its dedication to prioritizing qualified individuals who have completed these courses when considering job applicants. The company's commitment extends to sponsoring Indian universities equipped with Taiwan education centers, aligning with its goal to foster collaboration among industry, government, and academia for the enhancement of Mandarin-language teaching resources in India. This initiative aims to equip local students with advanced language skills, addressing the talent requirements essential for Foxconn's strategic development in India. Baushuan Ger, the TECC Representative who observed the MOU signing, highlighted that there are currently 31 Taiwanese education centers in India.

With Foxconn's support, a greater number of Taiwanese teachers will assume teaching roles in India, simultaneously enhancing job opportunities for high-achieving Indian students. As an increasing number of Taiwanese enterprises establish manufacturing facilities in India, the Mandarin-language education project aims to address the shortage of local talent with proficiency in Mandarin. Partner schools have enthusiastically welcomed the initiative, expressing the belief that this collaboration will enable students and faculty at tertiary institutions to progress in their Mandarin-language education, enhance communication skills, and prepare them for success in tackling global challenges in the future.
