Foundation Stone Laid for New School Building in Nepal with Indian Assistance

  • A foundation stone was laid for the construction of the Shree Nepal Rastriya Secondary School Multipurpose Building in Dullu Municipality, Dailekh, Nepal. The project is being funded by the Government of India with a grant of 39 million Nepali Rupees.

The ceremony was attended by Ghanshyam Bhandari, Minister for Social Development of Karnali Province, Avinash Kumar Singh, and Counsellor at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, and Bharat Prasad Rijal, Mayor of Dullu Municipality.

The building will have three and a half floors and will include several facilities, such as a handicraft showcase area, a library, a cultural section dedicated to the Dullu Kingdom, a multipurpose hall, and office spaces. The project is part of the 'Nepal-India Development Cooperation' and is being implemented under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) initiative through Dullu Municipality.

Minister Bhandari, Mayor Rijal, and other local leaders expressed appreciation for India's support in improving education and infrastructure in Nepal. They highlighted how the new building will help students and the local community learn more about the history and culture of the Dullu Kingdom, while also enhancing the learning environment.

Since 2003, India has completed over 495 HICDPs in Nepal across various sectors, with 15 projects in Karnali Province alone. India has also donated 1,009 ambulances and 300 school buses to Nepal, including 50 ambulances and eight school buses in Karnali.

This project reflects the ongoing partnership between India and Nepal, aiming to support Nepal’s development and infrastructure needs. The ceremony was attended by local government officials, educators, students, and parents, all excited about the positive impact the new building will have on education in the region.
