FISU and FUSC have entered into MoU to encourage 'Healthy Campus' in China

  • In a significant move to advance the implementation of FISU's Healthy Campus initiative in China, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between FISU and the University Sports Federation of China (FUSC). This agreement was formalized during a visit by a prominent Chinese delegation, which included representatives from the Ministry of Education, FUSC, UNESCO in China, and Chinese diplomats in Switzerland, to FISU headquarters in Lausanne. With over 3,000 higher education institutions, China aims to proactively enhance the well-being of its more than 40 million students. Currently, 14 Chinese universities are participating in the Healthy Campus program, and four of them: Peking University, Chengdu University, Donghua University, and Chengdu Sport University, have already been certified for their dedication to student health and well-being.

Leonz Eder, the President of FISU, warmly greeted the Chinese delegation and expressed his satisfaction with the enduring and productive partnership between FISU and China in organizing global university sports events. He emphasized the significant opportunity to advance the Healthy Campus program across the extensive network of universities in China. Mr. Wang Jiayi, the Vice-Minister of Education, echoed his enthusiasm for the collaboration and underscored the relevance of university sports in China's educational framework. Mr. Wang also conveyed his personal passion for educational sports and their integral role in fostering the comprehensive development of students.

The partnership between FISU and FUSC is anticipated to result in the inclusion of additional Chinese universities in the Healthy Campus program and the enhanced promotion of university sports on both domestic and global fronts. This signifies a noteworthy progression towards cultivating healthier and more comprehensive university experiences for students in China. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) dedicated to advancing FISU’s Healthy Campus program in China was officially signed by Eric Saintrond, FISU's Secretary General and CEO, and Liu Lixin, Vice President of FUSC. The signing ceremony, witnessed by the Vice Ministry of Education of China and President Eder, solidifies the commitment to the program's promotion and development in the country.
