EU extends scholarships to the students of Philippines

  • The European Union (EU) is providing scholarship grants to Filipino students interested in studying in Europe. During his visit to the city, Luc Vèron, the EU ambassador to the Philippines, discussed potential partnership programs with Tuguegarao City Mayor Maila Ting-Que, including student and researcher exchange initiatives. Vèron emphasized that the program supports the city's educational initiatives and enables scholars to explore their potential in foreign educational institutions. The ambassador mentioned a gradual increase in the number of scholars, reaching approximately 70-75 individuals sent from the Philippines to EU countries for study each year.

    Vèron expressed gratitude to successful Filipino students who applied for the scholarship program, highlighting their overall excellence. He explained that the scholarship initiative is designed for students pursuing bachelor's degrees in any field. The application process is directly through the designated office for foreign exchange programs in tertiary schools. Additionally, Ambassador Luc Vèron, during his visit to Tuguegarao City, discussed potential partnership programs with Mayor Maila Ting-Que. He mentioned an annual higher education fair featuring various institutions to introduce the scholarship program to a wider student audience.

    Vèron advised students on finding a balance between stepping out of their comfort zones and ensuring the comfort necessary for the best experiences. In response, Mayor Maila Ting-Que expressed appreciation to the EU for presenting this opportunity to students in Tuguegarao City. The mayor is optimistic about the prospect of Tuguegaraoeño students achieving degrees from the EU. Additionally, the two officials deliberated on potential partnerships for climate change mitigation initiatives, as well as trade and industry developments in Tuguegarao City.
