Hu Zhiping, Deputy Director of the China-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education (referred to as the “Language Exchange and Cooperation Center”), and his delegation visited Nanjing University to research and discuss the development of international Chinese education. The meeting included Lu Yanqing, Vice President of Nanjing University, and Ding Aijun, Assistant to the President. Zhao Wenshu, Dean of the School of Overseas Education, chaired the meeting.
On behalf of the university, Lu Yanqing extended a warm welcome to the leaders of the Language Integration Center. He provided a brief overview of Nanjing University’s rich history and achievements in international Chinese education and expressed gratitude for the Center’s support and guidance. Vice President Lu emphasized the significance of open and cooperative education and committed to advancing these efforts. He assured that Nanjing University will continue to enhance its open education strategy, improve the quality of cooperative education, and contribute to the high-quality development of its international Chinese education.
Hu Zhiping praised Nanjing University’s significant role in building Confucius Institutes and advancing international Chinese education. He appreciated the university's proactive open school strategy and internationalization efforts. As the Confucius Institute marks its 20th anniversary, he urged Nanjing University to strategically enhance its Confucius Institute network, support the Belt and Road Initiative, and boost its global impact. He also encouraged the university to leverage its strengths for a comprehensive international Chinese education approach. The Language Integration Center will continue to collaborate closely with Nanjing University, focusing on new mechanisms and projects to advance sustainable and high-quality international Chinese education and strengthen Sino-foreign educational and cultural ties.
Cheng Xu, deputy director of the Confucius Institute Office of our university, reported on the remarkable achievements of our university’s international Chinese education in recent years in “telling China’s stories well”, “enhancing friendship with China”, “strengthening teaching and research”, and also put forward the practical challenges and difficulties faced by international Chinese education. He said that Nanjing University will focus on integrating resources, explore long-term support and cooperation mechanisms with the Language Integration Center, strengthen diversified support and management, and jointly promote the high-quality and sustainable development of international Chinese education.
Cao Xianwen, Vice Dean of the School of Overseas Education, and Zhang Quanzhen, Director of the Department of International Chinese Education, respectively made speeches on how to promote overseas people-to-people exchanges, create high-quality teaching materials, and promote international Chinese education.
The leaders from the Language Integration Center, Nanjing University, and relevant departments engaged in comprehensive and practical discussions on various aspects of international Chinese education. Their goal was to advance the work effectively and promote international Chinese education and cultural exchanges between China and other countries. Also present at the meeting were He Wei, Director of the Standards and Examination Assessment Department of the Language Integration Center; Wang Duoli, Senior Project Officer; and Zhang Suogeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Overseas Education College.
