Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai led a Vietnamese delegation to the 2024 Vietnam Executive Leadership Programme (VELP) at Harvard University in Boston, USA, from April 1-3. In his opening speech, Khai highlighted the VELP's status as a reputable platform for dialogue and policy consultation between Vietnam and the US. He reaffirmed Vietnam's commitment to closely collaborating with the US to implement the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership across various sectors, notably education.
The 2024 VELP focuses on three key discussions: global and Asian economic prospects, emphasizing significant transformation trends and their impact on Vietnam; fostering new growth drivers, particularly innovation, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies within Vietnam; and strategies to overcome the middle-income trap and reshape the growth model.
During the April 1 sessions on global economic prospects, AI, and semiconductor technology, professors and experts provided a comprehensive overview of major economies' development trends and emerging technologies. They commended Vietnam's economic success, acknowledging it as one of the world's most successful transformations over the past two decades.
Experts praised Vietnam's potential to participate in global supply chains in emerging technology sectors. They offered practical recommendations for Vietnam to capitalize on new trends, including leveraging investment shifts, establishing ecosystems for emerging technology development, harnessing AI talent, and investing in digital infrastructure and renewable energy.
Overall, the VELP serves as a platform for exchanging ideas and strategies to propel Vietnam's economic development and enhance its position in the global technological landscape. The discussions underscore Vietnam's readiness to embrace innovation and adapt to evolving economic paradigms, positioning itself as a key player in the global economy.
