DepEd and LinkedIn Collaborate to Tackle Education and Workforce Challenges

  • According to data from LinkedIn Philippines, the skills needed to work in the Philippine education sector have significantly evolved since 2015, necessitating substantial upskilling programs for teachers and education workers.

LinkedIn reported that the skills required in the education sector have shifted by 37.6 percent since 2015 due to technological advancements, with expectations that this change will accelerate to 70 percent by 2030, driven by the rise of artificial intelligence (AI).

“Filipino teachers must continuously upskill to keep up with the evolving landscape. Equipping educators with in-demand skills is crucial for their career resilience. It allows them to deliver a higher quality of classroom pedagogy, guiding job-ready graduates to build the skills needed in an AI-driven economy”, LinkedIn said during the launch of its new partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd).

Under the partnership, DepEd and LinkedIn would deploy strategies to enhance the employability of Filipino teachers as well as provide opportunities for their upskilling. Through this collaboration, both organizations aim to improve the professional development of educators, equipping them with the tools and resources necessary for growth in their careers.

The partnership will also enable DepEd to leverage LinkedIn’s platform to equip learners with job-ready skills, ensuring they are prepared for the demands of the modern workforce. This initiative will not only enhance teachers' teaching capabilities but also contribute to creating a more skilled and competitive workforce in the Philippines.
