DAVV and IIT-Indore Partnered with TECC to Offer Mandarin Courses

  • Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) and the Indian Institute of Technology, Indore (IIT-I) have forged a collaboration with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC) to introduce Mandarin language courses, signalling a significant stride towards fostering international ties and enhancing educational opportunities. The signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) commenced at IIT-I and later continued at DAVV’s EMRC campus. This partnership aims to benefit more than 12,000 students across 31 teaching departments and institutes, offering them avenues for improved employment prospects in Taiwan.

Expressing her optimism about this collaboration, Professor Renu Jain, the Vice-Chancellor of DAVV, highlighted the potential for students to access new employment opportunities. Under the agreement, TECC will provide faculty to train students in Mandarin, facilitating proficiency in the language. This proficiency is expected to ease the process of securing jobs in Taiwan for DAVV and IIT-I students.

Formerly known as the University of Indore, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya holds significant historical and regional importance, named after Ahilya Bai Holkar, a prominent figure in the 18th-century history of Indore. Originally confined to Indore city, the university's jurisdiction has expanded to include seven tribal-dominated districts within the Indore division, catering to the educational needs of both the industrially developed city of Indore and the rural and tribal communities in the region.

Established in 1995, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre in India serves as Taiwan's representative office in the absence of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries. This collaboration between DAVV, IIT-I, and TECC underscores the mutual interest in fostering educational exchange and creating opportunities for students to engage with the global landscape, particularly in Taiwan, thereby enriching their academic and professional experiences.
