Coventry University, UK's top higher education institution, has been chosen by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Technology in Indonesia to provide a Doctoral Bridging Programme as a bridge for preparing Indonesian academic staff for PhD study.
A program of intensive eight weeks will be held for a group of Indonesian higher education professionals at Coventry University. Participants will develop research skills during this period and gain much-needed knowledge required to undertake doctoral studies, which will commence in September 2025.
The participants will benefit from research skills training, research proposal development, meetings with supervisors, library induction sessions and PhD application development support. They will also gain insights into life as a PhD student in the UK through a peer ‘buddy’ system.
Coventry University’s Doctoral College provides a home and community to more than 800 postgraduate researchers, providing them with comprehensive training and development as part of the university’s investment in interdisciplinary research that tackles some of society's major challenges.
The delegates will join nine of the university’s research centres, including Arts, Memory and Communities; Business in Society; Financial and Corporate Integrity; Healthcare and Communities; Health and Life Sciences; Computational Science and Mathematical Modelling; Global Learning, Peace and Security; and Creative Economies.
This programme builds on the success of previous years, with the university having led similar initiatives in 2017, 2018 and 2019, supporting the Ministry’s goals of developing highly skilled researchers in Indonesia.
Through this initiative, Coventry University is enhancing international collaborations and building on its existing network of Global Hubs in India, China, Africa, Brussels and Singapore, working with universities and organisations worldwide.
