City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) and Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) have formalized two cooperation agreements to foster collaboration in digital medicine, law, and other fields, aimed at nurturing talent and facilitating exchange programs.
In a ceremony witnessed by CityUHK President Freddy Boey and SYSU President Gao Song, who is also a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Lee Chun-sing, Provost and Deputy President of CityUHK, and Professor He Yulong, President of the Seventh Affiliated Hospital of SYSU, signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement. This agreement aims to advance the development of life sciences, digital medicine, computer science, biomedical engineering, and other disciplines. The partnership is designed to enhance scientific research, promote technology transfer, and support talent cultivation and scholarly exchange between the two institutions.
Additionally, another cooperation agreement was signed between Professor Lin Feng, Dean of the School of Law at CityUHK, and Professor Zhang Liang, Dean of the School of Law at SYSU. Witnessed by Presidents Boey and Gao, this agreement focuses on creating opportunities for students from SYSU's School of Law to study at CityUHK, equipping them with legal knowledge relevant to both mainland China and Hong Kong.
President Boey emphasized that CityUHK's Institute of Digital Medicine, established in April, aims to integrate life and health technologies, data science, and artificial intelligence with medical science and public health. He expressed optimism that CityUHK would continue to leverage its strengths in engineering, data science, and life sciences. By collaborating with the Seventh Affiliated Hospital of SYSU, known for its medical and clinical expertise, both universities aim to drive medical innovation and contribute to the future of healthcare development.
