Chulalongkorn Hosts 76th OMEP World Assembly, Advances Early Education

  • The Faculty of Education at Chulalongkorn University, in partnership with OMEP Thailand, the Ministry of Education, the UNESCO Office for Education in the Asia-Pacific Region, and the Equitable Education Fund (EEF), hosted the 76th OMEP World Assembly and Conference titled “Right from the Start for ECCE: Step Beyond All Together”.

    The assembly and conference were held at the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University, and Centara Grand at Central World Hotel. Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, Acting President of Chulalongkorn University, chaired the assembly, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siridej Sujiva, Acting Vice President, delivered the welcome remarks on July 17, 2024, at the Poonsapaya Navawongs na Ayudhya Meeting Room, located on the 3rd floor of the Phra Mingkwan Karnsuksa Building at the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University.

    The 76th OMEP World Assembly and Conference, titled “Right from the Start for ECCE: Step Beyond All Together,” held at the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University, was the first time Thailand had the honor of hosting the event. It brought together 580 participants from 52 countries. The conference aimed to provide a platform for monitoring advancements in early childhood education and development across different regions globally.

    The conference also featured the exchange of knowledge and insights on critical success factors, emerging research, innovations, and best practices. These discussions aim to shape and refine attitudes and policies to improve the quality of early childhood education. The event reinforced the principle that quality and standards in early childhood education are a fundamental right for all children, advocating for development that is age-appropriate, comprehensive, and equitable, which is essential for lifelong learning.
