China Higher Education Exhibition Makes Its Mark in Nepal

  • The China Higher Education Exhibition 2024 attracted numerous Nepali students and parents, with participation from 31 Chinese universities. Initially launched in Nepal in 2003, the exhibition made a comeback after a decade-long absence in the country.

According to Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, the current number of Nepali students studying in China has reached 2,500. Additionally, there has been a noticeable increase in the presence of Chinese experts, scholars, university students, and educational volunteers coming to Nepal for purposes such as study, research, and teaching.

"Cultural exchange and educational cooperation between the two countries have become an important cornerstone of China-Nepal relations, injecting inexhaustible impetus to building a closer China-Nepal community with a shared future", Chen said while addressing the exhibition. "I believe that this higher education exhibition will definitely open a window of information and build a bridge for Nepali students wishing to study in China", he added.

Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Nepal's deputy prime minister and foreign minister, emphasized that education is a crucial area of cooperation between Nepal and China. He highlighted China's support through various scholarship programs, as well as short-term and long-term training initiatives, alongside institutional collaborations.

"I believe this program will be a milestone in furthering our educational cooperation and people-to-people relations", he said of the exhibition. "I hope this exhibition provides an excellent opportunity for Nepali students to learn about higher education opportunities and prospects in China". The exhibition was organized by the China Scholarship Council and the Chinese Embassy in Nepal.
